It's St. Patrick's Day. Sure! Have fun in your celebrations. I am co-hostessing (yes it's a word, i said so) a baby shower tomorrow at my house and the living room is simply festooned with decorations. festooned, indeed.
The color scheme is turquoise and yellow, with lots of rubber ducks. (don't worry y'all. i don't think the guest of honor is a reader. she'll still be surprised!) There are gorgeous baby themed garlands with yellow balloons.
My co-hostess is amazing with her creative talent for turning curling ribbon into something far more interesting than curling ribbon. you should just see. (or better yet, I'll take pictures.)
I outdid myself by blowing up way too many yellow balloons and tossing them out onto the newly vacuumed floor. Then we taped them up everywhere, and guess what? That newly vacuumed floor? COVERED IN CHOCOLATE LABRADOR RETRIEVER HAIR.
and worse? Yellow balloons LOVE - positively ADORE - chocolate Labrador retriever hair. They go together like two sides of Velcro, sealed with superglue. I canNOT get them to separate.
So. Gorgeous turquoise and yellow, rubber duck baby shower with curling ribbon works of ART, and then Duke's own little personal signature - gross furry balloons. Great. Nothing welcomes an expecting mother and her precious son into the world like a lot of brown dog hair taped up around your house, right?
Are you wondering what is wrong with me? usually I get right to the point! (ok, i don't. but someone might be new here, and they might want to think that. ahem.)
It's the 17th y'all!! Do your BSE and come back here and say you did it in comments. The drawing for the random BSE-er will take place TUESDAY night. The prize is a really cute wintry bag from Esprit that I bought especially for this month's winner!
You are ONLY eligible for the drawing if you claim you DID THE BSE. Not just, 'hi, good thing here.' Nope. That does not cut it. Although that's a nice comment, and nice comments are always welcome, what i'm really after are those proclamations of examinations, ladies.
If you have a sidebar button, you might consider highlighting Club 17 on your blog. If you'd like one, or have other questions, go here!
See you in the Comments!

I did my BSE 2 weeks ago. I think TAS and I are leading a dual existance. Lump here too. My mammogram and ultrasound were also done this past week. Wish me luck as well :-) The good news, if it turns out to actually be something at least I found it now vs. later... Happy St. Patrick's Day!
I did it! Still some mysterious stuff going on, so the doctor is still checking every month too...I am so glad that you do this to remind women that this is so important to do.
And just as a note that you have already posted...there doesn't have to be a lump...if you symptoms that remind you of mastitis or your skin looks like orange peel...do not wait! Get to a doctor IMMEDIATELY.
Hugs,
Suzi
Ok, mine is done, too. Finally! I forgot last night when writing this post.
I know. How can your forget to do a BSE when you're writing a post asking everyone else to do one? I have no idea. But it's still technically the 17th, and I got it done.
Suzi, GRG, and Tas,
You've got a group of women here praying and supporting you through this. (And countless lurkers who don't comment, but DO pray, and there is great power in prayer) Thank you for sharing what you're going through! It can be a long process of appointments, but just keep on going.
Blaine, I'm glad you BSE. I bet your mom is, as well. Praying for her, too. Will you keep us all posted on her condition - specifically in the comments of future 17th posts?
Becky, hmmm. glad you got a much needed bath. I kinda know the feeling. Not that I'm filthy - it's just been a long and wonderful day...
[This comment was left on another post, so I wanted to cut and paste it here in case I forgot when it was time for the drawing. yea, Karen!!]
I have to tell you...today when I signed on to my blog to post, there was your little logo reminding me to do my BSE (which I did)...were it not for you, I don't think I'd be remembering to do it at all! (second time -- four more till I get the crown!) woo hoo!
I didn't have access to my computer yesterday, but did my BSE in the shower last night. Clear!
My SIL who has breast cancer has started losing her hair now and is so exhausted. She says she can do something for about 30 minutes and then has to lay down for about three hours. But she is on good spirits and determined to beat this thing!
Thanks again for reminding us!

I did it!!!
My Mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer this month, and will be having a bi-lateral mastectomy w/ reconstruction early next month; followed by radiation and chemo. YUCK!!!!
You can bet I will NEVER miss a monthy BSE!
